Visa and GCash partner for seamless cross-border account funding solutions for Filipinos and tourists

● The partnership enables two powerful money movement solutions – with Visa Direct, individuals and businesses around the world can now send money to any GCash wallet, while Visa’s Cross-border Account Funding solution to enable over 10 million overseas Filipinos to make seamless transfer of funds from their foreign-issued Visa cards.

Visa (NYSE: V), a world leader in digital payments, and GCash, the Philippines’ leading finance superapp and largest cashless ecosystem, have announced a strategic partnership aimed at delivering a seamless and secure cross-border wallet funding solutions. Visa Direct now makes it easier for individuals and businesses worldwide to send money directly to GCash wallets, giving more than 90 million Gcash users in the Philippines a fast, secure, and convenient way to receive funds from overseas. Additionally, overseas Filipinos (OFs) can now conveniently use their foreign-issued Visa cards as a funding source within the GCash Overseas app. This initiative marks a significant step forward in making financial transactions easier and more accessible for Filipinos and visitors alike, wherever they may be.

The Philippines ranks among Asia Pacific’s top adopters of digital remittances, according to Visa’s Money Travels: 2025 Digital Remittances Adoption Report, which covers 44,000 remittance senders and receivers in 20 key countries and territories. Around 74% of Filipinos have opted to send money through digital means, while 66% prefer to receive remittances digitally. Close to half, or 45% of respondents, have also cited digital remittances as a safe and private way to send and receive funds.

There are 8 out 10 Filipinos who have used GCash, underscoring its reach and impact in everyday payments across the country. Across all demographics, Filipinos have embraced digital apps when sending and receiving remittances. Digital apps are preferred by older users, with 100% of respondents from the Philippines aged 65 and above planning to send remittances digitally. This is higher compared to the 45-64 age bracket (72%), 35-44 bracket (75%), and 18-34 bracket (74%).
